One of the easiest methods to whiten your teeth is to use a special mouthwash. All you have to do is rinse your mouth with the whitening mouthwash for 60 seconds every morning and night. You will see noticeable results within a week. It’s that simple!
How Does It Work?
All whitening mouthwashes contain some sort of bleaching agent. Hydrogen peroxide is the most widely used bleaching agent, and it’s also used by dentists when performing a professional in-office whitening treatment. It can penetrate and whiten the inside of the tooth (called dentin) to make it even whiter than its natural color, as opposed to non-peroxide products that only clean the surface (enamel). The concentration of hydrogen peroxide in a mouthwash is lower than in products used by your dentist, so don’t expect the same dramatic results you would get by an in-office treatment. However, if you combine a whitening mouthwash with a good whitening toothpaste, you can expect to see great results. Fast.
Before you try this kind of mouthwash, it is important to see your dentist to make sure you have no cavities or any other problems. The peroxide could otherwise cause pain. It’s also important to point out that teeth whitening mouthwashes should not be used by children under 12 years of age. If swallowed, seek medical assistance!
What Is The Best Whitening Mouthwash?
With all the different brands and products on the market, it can be difficult to find the right mouthwash for you. That’s why I decided to give you a helping hand by researching and finding the best teeth whitening mouthwash out there. There were many to choose from, but I managed to narrow the list down to three strong candidates – Rembrandt Deeply White, Listerine Whitening and Crest 3D White Arctic Fresh. Because it was nearly impossible to separate those three, I decided to present all of them.
Listerine Whitening Mouthwash Review
This clean mint-flavored mouthwash from Listerine is very effective at preventing stain and plaque buildup, and whitening your teeth at the same time. Unlike other similar products, it should be used BEFORE brushing your teeth. Rinse for 60 seconds, morning and night, and that’s basically all you have to do! One bottle lasts for 32 days of normal usage.
Hydrogen peroxide is used to penetrate and bleach the teeth in a very effective way. The manufacturer even claims that its whitening effect is four times as powerful as the leading whitening toothpaste. Not bad at all!
Some very happy customers have rated it 4.1 (on a scale 1-5) and given it some great reviews.

Crest 3d White Arctic Fresh Review
This mouthwash from Crest is a multi-care rinse, which means that it not only whitens your teeth by removing stains, but it also prevents new stains from forming, AND freshens your breath at the same time. Your teeth will become cleaner, whiter and fresher after only 7 days – and it only takes two minutes per day! All you have to do is take three teaspoonfuls (15 mL to be exact), and rinse your mouth for 60 seconds two times daily. That’s it!
A special triple-action formula is the secret behind the success of the Crest 3d White Arctic Fresh mouthwash. Hydrogen peroxide is used to bleach your teeth, while sodium hexametaphosphate prevents the formation of new stains. The third and final stage is the cool mint flavor that leaves you with a long-lasting freshness in your mouth. For full effect, use it together with a whitening toothpaste.
Customers that have tried it are impressed, and have given it a 4.1 rating. They say things like:
“After using this stuff for only 2 weeks I have noticed that my teeth are beginning to look whiter.” – KayleeDaily
“It gets the job done and leaves your breath smelling good and your mouth feeling fresh!” – Joe N

Rembrandt Deeply White Mouthwash Review
Rembrandt has been in the teeth whitening industry since its very beginning in 1989. They are completely focused at developing and selling high-quality products that help people whiten their teeth at home. This whitening mouthwash is no exception. It is the first mouthwash that contains both hydrogen peroxide and fluoride. That is a very exciting combination, because it gives you stronger enamel (thanks to fluoride) AND whiter teeth simultaneously.
To make it even better, Rembrandt added a mixture of mints that (together with the peroxide) takes away the bad breath and gives you a long-lasting fresh taste in your mouth. Still not convinced? Ok, let’s see what people who have already tried it have to say. More than 130 Amazon customers have rated it 4.3 (!), and this is what two of them had to say:
“I don’t like most mouthwashes, but this one is perfect.” – Rob Skilling
“This stuff works wonder. I have been using it for two months now and within a few weeks, I can already see a difference in my teeth. My family members have noticed how whitening my teeth look. I will definitely keep using it.” – S. AV

So how do I rate this product compared to the other two? Well, the dual effect of fluoride and peroxide, together with Rembrandts deep knowledge and long history as a leading brand, could very well mean that this is the best teeth whitening mouthwash. Period.
Other Methods For Teeth Whitening
Rinsing your mouth with a peroxide mouthwash is a very quick and easy way to get a white smile. But it’s not the only way. There are many other methods and products you can use to achieve similar results. These are the most popular ones:
- Whitening toothpaste. Works as a normal toothpaste.
- At-home bleaching. Your teeth are placed in a tray filled with a peroxide gel for 15-20 minutes.
- Chewing gums. Stick them in your mouth, and then chew. Done.
- In-office bleaching. The most powerful method to whiten teeth. Only performed by professional dentist. The process is sometimes accelerated by using light.
- Whitening strips. Special strips that contain peroxide are placed on your teeth. Remove after the specified time.
So, what is the best whitening mouthwash? Tough question. But if you twist my arm, I would have to say Rembrandt Deeply White. Since hydrogen peroxide can be corrosive, strengthening the enamel with fluoride is a smart move. And the mouthwash from Rembrandt does just that.
On the other hand, your normal (or whitening) toothpaste already contain fluoride so your teeth’s enamel should be fine either way. That’s why I think all three products reviewed are great and could help you get that perfect smile.
